Program Management

Designed for the digital era, IBMS can drive small single or large multi-channel TV businesses, whether analogue or digital, terrestrial, cable or satellite, from initial content acquisition to final transmission.

With IBMS, broadcasters can maximize the commercial value of their content assets whilst ensuring that licensing terms and regulatory constraints are not violated. Rights are captured and enforced by the system; and programs are validated at the time of scheduling to avoid a breach of licensing terms.

The Program Acquisition and Rights Management module, manages the financial information to a balance sheet level as well as monitoring cash flow for both individual channels and the enterprise. Both rights and production costs including variable costs can be recorded.

Since the Program Scheduling module is integrated with Rights Management, only content that is licensed for transmission is made available to schedulers. Both tabular and graphical scheduling tools are available: the graphical facility enables movements by intuitive drag and drop across the grid, whilst the tabular facility is optimized for bulk operations across many channels or long periods.

All media items and workflow required for production and transmission, including closed captioning, subtitling and audio description are managed within the Media Management application. Any media type is supported e.g. tape, feed, server, interactive, stills.

The entire promotion planning and production process is managed within the Promotions application. It enables users to compile make-lists for nominated periods and to allocate the workload to producers, who can retrieve all relevant information and update all users once each stage is completed.

Schedules originally prepared by Program Scheduling can be enriched by adding promotions, commercials and presentation events (e.g. interactive). Changes in Program Scheduling and Promotions are automatically notified, so that the Log schedule can be updated.

IBMS supports a comprehensive range of digital services, including PPV, NVOD and VOD. Since the EPG program guide information is held within the Rights Management application, the synopsis information accompanies the title whenever it is scheduled.

The workflow application directs notifications and messages to specified users. Notifications indicate that a particular event has happened, e.g. a piece of media may have passed QA and be ready to broadcast. Messages are similar to notifications, but also allow a user to take an action.

IBMS includes interfaces to a wide range of external systems, including automation/media asset management, playout, Subtitling/Voice Over/Menu Generators and CA/EPG/DVB Providers.
