Ireland's Public Broadcaster RTÉ Selects Pilat Media's IBMS
Information Release: 22 November 2005
Pilat Media Global plc. ("Pilat Media" or the "Company"), the London-based AIM-listed supplier of business management software to broadcasters around the world, is pleased to announce that it was selected by Radio Telefís Éireann (RTÉ), Ireland's public TV and Radio broadcaster, to supply its flagship product IBMS (Integrated Broadcast Management System) as RTÉ Television's future channel management system. A contract for the licensing, implementation and longer term maintenance of IBMS was signed yesterday. Under this contract, a two months scoping phase has already commenced, aiming to produce the detailed solution design and implementation plan and to finalise the costing of the customisation, integration, training and support effort required. Subject to these being approved by RTÉ, the full implementation will then continue and is expected to take approximately one year to complete.
Commenting on the contract with RTÉ, Avi Engel, Chief Executive of Pilat Media said: "We are very pleased to have been selected by RTÉ - our third public broadcaster client. This demonstrates that like our many private sector clients, public broadcasters nowadays also seek to achieve higher productivity and operational flexibility, which is what IBMS is all about. A European win following the August announcement of the contract with Fox Television Stations Inc. in the USA also demonstrates the global reach of our business and the generic nature of our product, which is unique in its ability to meet such a wide spectrum of different client needs. Our pipeline of potential new contracts remains healthy, covering prospects in all three regions where we are already present - North America, Europe and Australia".
Commenting on the selection of Pilat Media and IBMS, Dermot Horan, Director of Broadcast and Acquisitions, RTÉ Television, said: "After an extensive tendering process and comprehensive market search across Ireland and Europe, we are confident that Pilat Media can provide us with the most appropriate channel management system for our needs. We are looking forward to the benefits that an effective channel management system will bring to the day-to-day running of all aspects of our functioning and working closely with Pilat Media to achieve that end."
RTÉ (Radio Telefís Éireann) is the distinctive leader in Irish media, providing a comprehensive broadcasting service to the Irish public on television (RTÉ One and RTÉ Two) and radio (RTÉ Radio 1, RTÉ 2fm, RTÉ lyric fm and RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta). RTÉ News and Current Affairs delivers a comprehensive diet of daily news bulletins, services and current affairs programming via RTÉ Radio, RTÉ Television and on-line via www.rte.ie. Interactivity, publishing and developmental aspects of the business are managed by RTÉ Publishing. The RTÉ transmission network, RTÉNL, is a wholly owned subsidiary and operates the nationwide transmission network. RTÉ Performing Groups is an integrated business division that funds and manages the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet, RTÉ Philharmonic Choir; and Cor na nÓg, the young people's choir.
