Pilat Media is the market leader in New Zealand with TV3 contract win
Press Release: 19 August 2003
London, 19 August 2003 - Pilat Media Global plc, the London-based AIM-listed supplier of business management software to broadcasters around the world, announces a new contract with TV3, New Zealand's second largest free-to-air broadcaster, to integrate and streamline its programme content and ad sales using Pilat Media's Integrated Broadcast Management System (IBMS).
TV3 (part of Canadian CanWest group) is a free-to-air national broadcaster that reaches 98% of New Zealand's population. Pilat Media already supplies TVNZ, the largest broadcaster in New Zealand, and subscriber based Sky Network Television with its IBMS software. This contract win makes Pilat Media the market leader in the provision of broadcast software in New Zealand and Australia, increasing its presence in Australasia to eight clients, including Network Ten, Southern Cross Broadcasting and SBS.
TV3 will utilise IBMS to streamline and integrate its programme content, ad sales and traffic management operations, to progress from process-orientated functions to value-oriented functions, thereby eliminating duplication of data and automating manual processes. Using a wholly integrated approach, more informed business decisions can be made by the sales, programming, promotions, and operations departments. Previously, due to deficiencies in the current systems and processes it was not possible to integrate all of these departments.
Commenting on the decision to implement the integrated IBMS system, Kevin Green, Group Financial Controller of TV3 said: "By replacing four separate applications, we will gain substantial operational efficiency and maximise the value of our broadcast assets. For example, adopting the ad sales modules will allow us to improve yield on commercial inventory by providing staff with access to up-to-date information and the ability to optimise airtime availability. In thus improving our responsiveness to clients' changing needs, such a system is 100% beneficial to us and we are delighted to work with Pilat Media."
Avi Engel, Chief Executive Officer of Pilat Media Global plc, said: "We have made tremendous headway in New Zealand and Australia and look forward to working with TV3. We are seeing continued success with IBMS all over the world, as broadcasters see that our system boosts programme usage and revenues. The TV3 contract win reflects the industry's growing confidence in IBMS as an integrated programme content, ad sales and traffic solution. "

About TV3
CanWest owns two national television networks in New Zealand, TV3 and TV4. Headquartered in Auckland, TV3 reaches approximately 98% of the New Zealand population. TV3 offers a strong mix of top international programming coupled with a solid and diverse range of New Zealand productions.
By adopting an operating philosophy similar to that which had proven successful in Canada, but crafted to suit the nuances of the New Zealand market, TV3 decided on a strategy of programming to an 18 to 49 year-old core demographic group. This is the most appealing sector to New Zealand advertisers. Today, this demographic group and related audiences accounts for about 80% of TV3's annual advertising revenue. Its programming currently achieves a 25% audience share.
In June 1997, CanWest launched TV4, New Zealand's second, privately owned network. Operating from the TV3 studios in Auckland, free-to-air TV4 reaches over 75% of New Zealand's living in major metropolitan centres, with an audience reach in excess of 2.4 million viewers.

Pilat Media is a UK company, currently 150 strong, operating from headquarters in London and offices in the USA, Australia and Israel.
Pilat Media's IBMS (Integrated Broadcast Management System) is a new generation software system for managing the business of broadcasting. It is the world's most comprehensive solution, designed to maximize revenues and reduce costs by integrating airtime sales, content programming and media trafficking across an unlimited number of different channels or stations, regions or even countries, all under a single centralized, scalable and digital ready system. Al these have been historically serviced by several, typically dispersed systems. IBMS' functional breadth, depth and flexibility to suit all types of broadcasters are unrivalled, making it the first truly global system of its kind.
IBMS' first version was originally developed by Pilat for BSkyB, to support their fast growing multi-channel programming needs. Pilat Media was established in 1999 to further develop and market the system as a generic product. IBMS's scope was subsequently more than doubled by adding the advertising sales functionality in partnership with Network Ten of Australia. Since then Pilat Media has rapidly established itself as a rising force in the market for business management software for broadcasters. Today, Pilat Media's software solutions have been selected by 35 broadcasters in Europe, North America and Australasia, representing a wide spectrum of business models, organizational size and transmission technologies - digital and analogue, on terrestrial, cable and satellite platforms. Additional clients include CTV (Canada), Discovery (International), five (UK), TV New Zealand, Playboy (US), Sky Italia and TV4 (Sweden).
